Reduviidae Nymph

Reduviidae Nymph 4594

On Sunday the most bizarre little bug landed on my hand. It made me think of a spiny lobster. It was very tiny, less than half an inch long. It was spiky and menacing looking despite it's very tiny size. I am sure that on it's home planet it is a great warrior. I took quite a few pictures of it, mostly because I was unsure as to whether I had got it in sharp focus. Bug pictures can be difficult especially when the bug is small and fast. Thank goodness it couldn't fly or I would have had no pictures at all.

Based on the very valuable web resource, www.bugguide.net, I have tentatively identified this as an assassin bug nymph.
